The Finance Team Lead serves as the head of Hillsides Finance Department, providing leadership,direction, and coordination across all finance functions. This role ensures that the departmentoperates as a unified team, with financial strategy, planning, and reporting aligned to supportHillsides mission and organizational priorities.


This position manages the Finance Departments people, priorities, and resources, serving as the primary point of contact between the Finance Department and the Director of Administration. The Finance Team Lead works closely with the Controller to ensure sound accounting and with theFinancial Analyst to ensure clear financial insight, while leading the departments contribution tobudgeting, board reporting, and strategic planning.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Department Leadership + Strategy

  • Lead and manage the Finance Department, including the Controller, Financial Analyst, andStaff Accountant (through the Controller), ensuring alignment with organizational prioritiesand the direction set by the Director of Administration
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the Finance Department and the Director ofAdministration, ensuring that finance-related matters are communicated clearly and handledwithin the department whenever possible
  • Set departmental priorities, manage workload distribution, and ensure that deadlines anddeliverables are met across all finance functions
  • Prepare and oversee the Finance Departments operating budget, ensuring that resourcesare used wisely and progress is regularly reviewed


Budget Strategy + Organizational Planning

  • Lead the annual budget process, coordinating across ministry leaders and departments todevelop the organizations operating budgets
  • Provide strategic financial perspective and recommendations to the Director ofAdministration to support leadership and board-level discussions
  • Lead the development and communication of financial reports, dashboards, andpresentations for leadership and board-level discussions, in coordination with the Director ofAdministration
  • Review and approve analytical output (budgets, forecasts, variance analyses, and boardreporting) prepared by the Financial Analyst, ensuring strategic alignment and clarity beforedistribution


Financial Oversight + Stewardship

  • Oversee cash flow management, reserve monitoring, and liquidity planning in coordinationwith the Controller and Financial Analyst
  • Monitor organizational financial health and provide regular updates to the Director ofAdministration on trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Support the Director of Administration in managing financial relationships, including banking,investments, and insurance
  • Ensure that restricted and designated funds are tracked and reported appropriately, incoordination with the Controller


Collaboration + Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Serve as the primary finance contact for ministry leaders, supporting budgeting, answeringfinancial questions, and providing clarity around resource stewardship
  • Coordinate with Human Resources on compensation planning, benefits administration, andpayroll-related coordination
  • Support audit preparation and serve as a departmental liaison during the annual auditprocess, working alongside the Controller
  • Represent the Finance Department in cross-functional initiatives and organizational planningefforts

  • Establish and maintain clear expectations and quality standards across all finance functions
