The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Full-Time PHYSICAL SCIENTIST (Environmental) / (NELAP QUALITY MANAGER; SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE DESIRED), NH-1301-03, to work at the Air Force Materiel Command, (AFMC) in the Air Force Sustainment Center (AFSC) in the Ogden Air Logistics Complex (OO-ALC) with 309 CMXG at HILL AIR FORCE BASE located in LAYTON, UT. 2026 Salary Range: ($89,508-138,370) / Yearly with locality

The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as an environmental physical scientist with project management, execution, and operations responsibility in assigned project(s) within a program element. To provide effective management and directorship of the administrative, financial, and technical aspects of the assigned environmental program(s). Provides direct mission to support the host and tenant organizations at the installation.

- The employee may be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours to include overtime, and/or days, swings, or owl shifts.
- The employee may be required to work during base exercises, contingencies or emergency situations.
- The employee may occasionally travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft IAW Joint Travel Regulations to other government installations, contractor facilities, or other commercial Locations for both training and mission accomplishment.
Basic Requirements:
Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. or Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Recruitment Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of professional environmental physical science principles, practices, techniques, and procedures to effectively perform project development, execution, training, and advisory services in assigned program element; and practical applications of available environmental analysis, and application of the analysis in developing policy and implementing the required processes or conversions.
2. Knowledge of physical science and related disciplines to design, develop and adapt scientific methods and techniques to recommend solutions for scientific and engineering problems.
3. Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations, and other guidance to make decisions and recommendations concerning assigned restoration, compliance, conservation, pollution prevention, and/or integration principles and practices; and health, safety, and security practices.
4. Knowledge of extensive environmental physical science pertaining to the use, handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and toxic waste in an industrial or developmental environment.
5. Skill to integrate a team of professionals to include environmental specialists and other government officials to effectively address specific issues related to program execution.
6. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
