Position Summary

ICAN Vice Presidents provide strategic leadership across multiple programs or operational functions. This role translates agency strategy into coordinated action, ensures quality and compliance, and is accountable for outcomes, staff leadership, fiscal oversight, and mission alignment.


The Vice President of Business Growth is responsible for leading ICAN’s statewide expansion strategy, strategic partnerships, and community solution development efforts. This role drives sustainable growth by cultivating high-level relationships, identifying new opportunities, and designing scalable solutions that strengthen communities across New York State.


This position integrates business development, government relations, strategic partnerships, and community systems collaboration to expand ICAN’s reach and impact.

Position-Specific Responsibilities


Programs / Operational Functions Overseen

Lead statewide growth and expansion strategy


Oversee business development and partnership pipeline management


Direct strategic planning for new market entry and service expansion

Coordinate cross-department feasibility assessments for new initiatives


Guide development of large-scale community solution models


Oversee preservation and revitalization strategy for community assets (community centers, sports complexes, social service hubs, etc.)


Facilitate cross-system collaboration efforts (government, education, behavioral health, justice, housing, economic development)


Support proposal development and partnership structuring


Represent ICAN in high-level strategic initiatives and statewide coalitions

Number of new statewide strategic partnerships established


Expansion of ICAN services into new communities or regions


Revenue growth tied to new contracts, agreements, or partnerships


Successful launch of community-based collaborative initiatives

Community & Partner Relationships

Serve as senior ambassador of ICAN statewide


Build and maintain relationships with:

  • Community coalitions and system partners


Position ICAN as a trusted systems-level solution provider


Lead high-level strategic meetings and negotiations


Represent ICAN at conferences, convenings, and public forums


Facilitate cross-sector collaboration to address complex community challenges


Maintain a strong networking presence to support sales and expansion efforts


Education/Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Public Policy, or related field (Master’s preferred)

  • Demonstrated experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or statewide initiatives

  • Experience working with government systems and public funding structures

  • Background in nonprofit, behavioral health, or community-based organizations preferred

  • Proven ability to negotiate high-level agreements and manage complex partnerships

  • Strong strategic planning and systems-thinking skills

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building abilities
