Mechanical Engineer

Location: Atlanta, GA

Reports To: Operations Manager

Overview

Vayan Group is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support manufacturing operations, process development, tooling design, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is responsible for developing and optimizing manufacturing processes, supporting prototype and production builds, coordinating with suppliers and contract manufacturers, and ensuring products are manufactured efficiently while meeting quality and customer requirements.


The Manufacturing Engineer plays a critical role in supporting fabrication, assembly, process validation, documentation, and production scalability in fast-paced manufacturing environments. This position works closely with operations, quality, engineering, and customers to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Own and support manufacturing processes for assigned products and projects
  • Develop tooling, fixtures, and assembly solutions to improve safety, quality, and efficiency
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions, process flows, inspection requirements, and quality plans
  • Develop manufacturing methods and assembly sequences for complex electromechanical products
  • Support prototype builds and production launches through hands-on collaboration with technicians and engineering teams
  • Work with contract manufacturers and suppliers to establish repeatable and scalable manufacturing processes
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase productivity and reduce waste
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing, assembly, and production issues and implement corrective actions
  • Support supplier sourcing, qualification, and ongoing production activities
  • Assist with quality planning activities and implementation of process controls
  • Collect, analyze, and report manufacturing and operational performance data
  • Travel to supplier and customer locations to support sourcing, process development, production launches, and quality initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with Vayan quality standards, customer requirements, and applicable safety procedures


Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required for clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field; OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum two (2) years of manufacturing engineering, process engineering, product development, or related experience
  • Experience supporting electromechanical products and manufacturing processes preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to solve technical and manufacturing challenges in a fast-paced environment
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, assembly, soldering, or related production methods
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, process development, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Willingness to travel to customer and supplier locations as required


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) manufacturing and SMT processes
  • Experience supporting automation, robotics, autonomous systems, or aerospace/defense products
  • Knowledge of quality tools and methodologies including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and supplier development activities
  • Basic scripting or programming experience


Schedule

  • Four (4) 10-hour shifts per week
  • Monday through Thursday
  • 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM
