Deltak Manufacturing Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to support our steel fabrication and ASME pressure vessel operations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining production timelines and cost control through efficient procurement of materials, tools, and services.

Responsibilities

• Source and purchase materials, equipment, and services required for fabrication and production.
• Maintain cost-effective relationships with key vendors and suppliers.
• Review engineering drawings and project requirements to determine procurement needs.
• Prepare and process purchase orders, RFQs, and vendor agreements.
• Track deliveries and resolve delivery issues to avoid production delays.
• Compare pricing, lead times, and quality to optimize purchasing decisions.
• Coordinate with project managers, estimators, and the shop floor to ensure material readiness.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, project specs, and safety regulations.

Required Skills

• Minimum 3 years of purchasing experience in a fabrication, construction, or manufacturing environment.
• Solid understanding of material specs, codes, and fabrication requirements.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel), ERP systems, and CAD file reading (preferred).
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical sectors.
• Familiarity with ASME pressure vessel materials and code requirements.
• Background in structural steel or piping projects.
• Technical knowledge of material takeoffs and fabrication documentation.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to pass pre-employment screening.
• Regularly sitting, standing, and walking throughout an 8–10 hour shift.
• Occasional bending, reaching, and lifting.
• Must be able to wear PPE required for visits to the shop floor or vendor sites.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment screening.
