SUMMARY OF POSITION
Under the direct supervision of Apex Centre Manager, the Business Development Supervisor performs marketing duties, member sales, and assists in the development of new and creative business and marketing plans for the facility, including but not limited to, sponsorships, marketing for TV & Radio. Position requires regular contact with the public in situations that affect the accomplishment of the job.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops new and creative business and marketing plans to promote The Parks & Recreation department.
- Executes the business and marketing plans by using an effective prospecting strategy, conducting guest tours, developing and implementing sales promotions, assists with training customer service staff, organizing marketing events, and providing effective communication pieces to promote The Parks & Recreation department to the public. This includes overseeing the development and distribution of all marketing materials for The Apex Centre including, flyers, posters, pamphlets, brochures, etc. Works closely with the City of McKinney Marketing Department for all outreach materials and communications.
- Ensures member renewals are done effectively, by personally selling corporate and individual annual passes, as well as programs for the facility.
- Achieves monthly, quarterly and yearly revenue objectives set forth by the facility manager to ensure the financial success of The Apex Centre.
- Reviews daily sales performance and individual employee performance statistics with the manager to identify issues and clarify behaviors needed to achieve facility sales goals.
- Reviews all sales contracts for accuracy and completeness and prepare paperwork for forwarding to Contract Administration; manages all sales errors and sales contracts returned to facility.
- Conducts oneself at all times in a manner of professionalism that aligns with the values, philosophies, and standards of the City of McKinney. This includes being in the facility wearing approved attire and nametag.
- Manages client database.
- Cultivates and manages sponsorship and marketing revenue partnerships to support advertising opportunities throughout the department.
- Attends various events (including but not limited to), health fairs, holiday and special events, school events,
- Solicits, promotes, and stewards donations from individuals, businesses, community organizations, and other stakeholders to support the Parks and Recreation Scholarship Fund, helping to expand access to recreational programs and services for underserved residents.
- Assists in development, distribution, and displaying the departments brochure three times a year.
- Coaches, mentors and educates customer service representatives in a manner that reinforces the facilities mission, vision, values and philosophies.
- Conducts regular meetings and education sessions for employees to assist with membership sales and retention.
- Assists members and guests with membership enrollment, program registration, facility bookings, etc. Provides positive and enthusiastic customer service to all members and guests.
- Drives to other facilities, including Parks and Recreation Administration, Chamber of Commerce, and businesses to attend meetings.
- Adheres to all the various written mandatory standards of operation, policies, procedures, manuals, memos, oral instructions, etc.
- Arrives to work, every day, on time as scheduled, which may include varied days, times, weekends, and holidays.
- Leads, mentors and develops customer service team.
- Serves as supervisor on duty as requested at the Apex Centre, both during the week and weekends, and performs all responsibilities as necessary in this capacity.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Represents the Parks & Recreation Department at networking meetings (i.e., Chamber, Main Street).
- Performs daily office administrative work.
- Assist with sales training of customer service representatives and full-time staff.
- Assists with facility events and programs.
- Connects members/guests to other members/guests through ongoing contact and promotion of the department events and activities.
- Attends all scheduled employee meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any work related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the below Minimum Qualifications may be an acceptable substitute.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Marketing or related field, with three (3) years of sales experience, with a strong knowledge of the key components of the sales, programming, and marketing. CPR/AED certification required, or willingness and ability to become certified upon hire. CPR certified (or obtain within 90 days of employment)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in the Parks & Recreation
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Must pass a drug screen, driving record, and background check.
- Must have Class C Texas Driver's License
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and material of light weight (5-10 pounds) with occasionally lifting up to 30 pounds (computer paper, supplies, etc.). Tasks may involve extended period of time at keyboard or work station. Position will drive a vehicle in the course and scope of duties.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is generally performed indoors in a climate-controlled office; however, some exposure to outdoor weather conditions may be involved while performing City errands or working special events.
