Business Analyst

Overview We are looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative Business Analyst with experience in Agile methodologies to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will work closely with Product Owners and development teams to gather, refine, and manage business requirements. You will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions while supporting multiple initiatives and value streams within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Gathering & Refining Requirements

  • Collaborate with Product Owners to gather and define business requirements, product specifications, and business processes for proposed solutions and initiatives.
  • Develop clear and concise user stories, process flows, acceptance criteria, and detailed specifications to ensure features meet business expectations.
  • Conduct research on specific features to provide greater context and improve workflows.
  • Maintain and update requirements documentation within product management tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Analyze market intelligence, process efficiency, and work with internal stakeholders to optimize delivery when applicable.

  1. Facilitating Communication

  • Organize and facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, dependent teams, and value streams.
  • Capture detailed meeting minutes and track action items to ensure timely follow-up on key decisions.
  • Foster collaboration across teams to resolve issues and maintain alignment across initiatives.
  • Communicate changes and updates to the development team while maintaining comprehensive documentation.

  1. Validating Solutions

  • Work closely with QA teams to validate solutions, define testing scenarios, and ensure all acceptance criteria are met (hands-on testing experience is a plus).
  • Support Product Owners and development teams in identifying and resolving issues during the validation phase.
  • Monitor KPIs and work with stakeholders to assess the effectiveness of implemented changes and recommend improvements.

  1. Supporting Multiple Teams & Initiative

  • Manage multiple initiatives within your value stream, providing regular updates on progress, risks, and issues to Product Owners.
  • Occasionally assist with light dev-related tasks to help projects cross the finish line.

Skills

  • CertificationsAgile/Scrum or Project Management certification is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to navigate complex business challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to facilitate meetings and manage stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities across multiple value streams.
  • Working knowledge of AI applications and the ability to leverage AI tools to streamline day-to-day tasks.

Experience

  • Industry ExperienceRequired experience in life insurance, health insurance, or annuities.
  • EducationBachelor's degree required (Business, Finance, Insurance, or related field preferred).
  • Professional Experience3+ years as a Business Analyst in an Agile environment, preferably within the life insurance industry.
  • Strong understanding of the insurance industry, including the new business application lifecycle, underwriting processes, policy administration, and the full insurance value chain (application through claims). Familiarity with ACORD standards is helpful.
  • Experience working closely with QA teams during testing is a plus.
  • Solid familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) and working in cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with product management tools such as Jira and Confluence for backlog management and requirements documentation.
