Job Summary:

This role involves providing direct care to patients with behavioral health needs, following the established policies and procedures of our facility.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conducts admissions and shift assessments for assigned patients, including behavioral evaluations, accurately and within the designated timeframes.
  • Employs critical thinking and judgment to assess patient data and informs physicians of any changes in condition.
  • Contributes to the creation, review, and assessment of multidisciplinary treatment plans in accordance with established policies.
  • Records all nursing care provided and adheres to nursing standards and organizational policies.
  • Implements and documents physician orders consistently and accurately.
  • Monitors patient safety and the environment within the unit.
  • Acts as a clinical resource and oversees care provided by LPNs and technicians.
  • Educates patients and their families based on assessed needs, documenting the education in the Electronic Health Record.
  • Utilizes evidence-based practices and scientific knowledge in nursing care, ensuring it meets the specific needs of patients as outlined in the department's Scope of Service.
  • As a nurse, I will uphold the professional nursing standards defined in our practice model, guided by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
  • Maintains a state of alertness and safety at all times.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Education:
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent educational background for licensing.
Experience:
  • No prior experience is necessary.
Physical Requirements:
  • Regularly uses speech for oral communication.
  • Constantly stands and walks.
  • Frequently lifts, carries, and pushes/pulls objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Regularly sits, reaches, and uses a keyboard for data entry.
  • Frequently utilizes vision for near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances, as well as color differentiation.
  • Regularly uses smell to identify odors.
  • Frequently uses hearing to receive oral communication and detect alarms or machinery issues.
  • Occasionally lifts and moves objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasionally assists in lifting/moving patients.
  • Occasionally bends, stoops, kneels, squats, twists, grips, and performs repetitive movements with legs and arms.
  • Occasionally drives.
  • Rarely crawls or runs.
