Utilities Distribution Engineer II
Location: Williamsport, MD
Contract: W2 only, 24 month contract
Pay: $62 /hour + optional medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match
Overview
Demonstrate and direct a strong commitment to safety in all work activities and supports distribution inspection, reliability, and interconnection processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrates and directs a strong commitment to safety in all work activities
- Develops familiarity with state regulatory requirements for distribution inspection and maintenance
- Assists with generating annual PM inspection program packages including identifying work, preparing SAP forms and spreadsheets, and tracking progress
- Maintains PM inspection data and updates work orders as needed
- Performs regulatory-required safety and security inspections in accordance with established practices
- Reviews and interprets reliability data from PowerOn, SAP, and enterprise data warehouse systems to prioritize work
- Responds to customer and commission inquiries regarding reliability and voltage conditions, including EMF and RFI inquiries
- Manages Distribution Customer Distributed Generation application mailbox and supports customers throughout the application process
- Tracks and monitors interconnection applications and installations, ensuring timelines are met
- Performs technical reviews for interconnection applications including one-line diagram reviews and COMAR compliance validation
- Coordinates Level 2+ applications with appropriate engineers/designers
- Serves as liaison between customers, designers, and internal teams to ensure correct completion of applications and agreements
- Supports meter exchange coordination and ensures interconnection completion documentation is finalized
- Coordinates mapping updates with GIS teams
- Supports reporting, budgeting activities (RPA, ECAT), and reliability project planning
- Provides technical support and responds to customer inquiries during the interconnection process
- Assists with emergency and storm response efforts when required
- Maintains consistent communication with management and stakeholders on work progress
Required Skills
- Working knowledge of NESC and NEC codes
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and work plans
- Understanding of electrical distribution systems and operating characteristics
- Familiarity with construction, maintenance, and service practices
- Ability to analyze data, develop reports, and manage productivity tracking
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with engineers, customers, contractors, and stakeholders
- Experience with Microsoft Office, SAP, GIS, CREWS, PowerOn, AutoCAD preferred
- Experience with database tools (Cognos, BEX, Hyperion) and Visual Basic is a plus
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or related field with 0–1 years of experience, OR Associate’s degree with 2–3 years of experience, OR High school diploma/GED with 4+ years of relevant experience
