Interventional Radiology Physician Assistant (PA) – Job Description
The Interventional Radiology Physician Assistant (PA) works collaboratively with Interventional Radiologists to provide comprehensive patient care before, during, and after minimally invasive image-guided procedures. The PA evaluates patients, develops treatment plans, performs clinical procedures within their scope of practice, and assists in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with and perform approved interventional radiology procedures. Joint injections, and spinal procedures, thoracentesis, paracentesis, PICCs, port placement, chest tube placement.
- Manage inpatient and outpatient consultations.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging studies.
- Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with physicians.
- Provide pre-procedure education and obtain informed consent when appropriate.
- Monitor patients during recovery and coordinate post-procedure care.
- Document patient encounters accurately in the EMR.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current PA licensure and certification.
- DEA registration and prescriptive authority as required by state regulations.
- Experience in interventional radiology, surgery, critical care, emergency medicine, or a related specialty preferred.
- Strong clinical, procedural, and communication skills.
