Position: Supply Technician

Reports To: Site Lead/Program Manager

Department: DEA Mailroom and Warehouse

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Supervises: None


Hourly Pay Rate: $43.93



(Base pay $39.36 + $4.57 H/W)


General Function


The Supply Technician performs a variety of technical supply management work which includes inventory control, storage management, distribution, cataloging, supply identification systems, property utilization, accounting and supply reports using assigned management information system and other related activities as required by contract.


Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities)



1. Experience in receiving supplies and equipment from a variety of sources.

2. The individual shall follow a number of specific procedures in completing repetitive clerical steps, such as verifying shipments against purchase orders, verifying serial numbers, quantities, affixing DEA Property Stickers, and performing simple posting of items to a computerized inventory.

3. Perform clerical and physical tasks in connection with shipping goods of the establishment in which employed and receiving incoming shipments. In performing day-to-day, routine tasks, this worker follows established guidelines.

4. The Supply Technician may direct and coordinate the activities of other workers engaged in handling goods to be shipped or being received.

Shipping duties typically involve the following:

5. verifying that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipment against documents; ensuring that shipments are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles, and preparing and keeping records of goods shipped, e.g., manifests, bills of lading.

Receiving duties typically involve the following:

6. verifying the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records, checking for damaged goods, insuring that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the establishment, and preparing and keeping records of goods received.

7. Type various documents using Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite Software.

8. The position is assigned to DEA Headquarters and Springfield Warehouse, with the primary responsibility of ensuring the proper receipt and delivery of all items received in the Springfield Warehouse marked for the Office of Diversion Control.

9. These positions are required to use SCLogic.

10. Other duties as assigned.

  • Working knowledge of the governing supply systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines is preferred.
  • Possess an understanding of the needs of the organization serviced.
  • Possess analytical ability to define or recognize the dimension of the problems involved, to collect the necessary data to establish the facts, and take or recommend action based upon application or interpretation of established guidelines
  • Ability to operate a fork-lift and other warehouse related equipment.
  • Drug Screen and Background Check: Pass with the ability to maintain throughout employment.
  • Have a favorable National Agency Check (NACI) with inquiry.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • The employee must be able to walk, stand and sit for long periods of time daily.
  • The work requires some physical exertion such as recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching; or similar activities.
  • Must be physically capable of performing work assigned, which includes lifting boxes weighing up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
  • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
  • Work typically in semi-office, hanger, warehouse and/or open surroundings
  • May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail and are exposed to fumes or airborne particles and electrical shock hazards.
  • The employee typically works indoors. Observance of normal safety practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations is required.
  • The work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, such as working around moving warehouse equipment, carts, or machines. Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection, and gloves.
  • This position is assigned to the Lincoln Place and Springfield Warehouse locations.

Minimum Experience

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Able to read, write and speak English fluently and be fully trained in the requirements of this contract.
  • Three (3) or more years’ specialized experience in operating an on-line workstation, Supply Inventory Management System.
  • Top Secret Security Clearance required.
