Minimum Qualifications of Education and ExperienceThis is a temporary, part time position working approximately 24 hours per week, and ending on October 15, 2026. Third or fourth year college student pursuing a degree in accounting, finance, or related field, or recent graduate.
Regular and reliable attendance is a necessary component of job/position. Individuals required to use County vehicles and equipment must have a valid driver's license and be free of any major traffic violations for the last three (3) years.
Nature of WorkUnder general supervision, this position supports the County's budget and financial operations with a focus on budget process improvements and projects related to financial systems and the effective use of existing technology to increase efficiency. The role includes a mix of self-directed work and collaboration, providing support to staff managing the County budget and financial systems. This position contributes to a workplace culture that values diversity, respect, and inclusion.
Examples of Work- Supports the budget process improvement work with ongoing monitoring and maintenance of the budget.
- Assists the Assistant Controller dedicated to the budget process in the development of costs and annual budget preparation (including analysis of historical revenues and expenses)
- Prepares journal entries, reviews reports, and verifies transactions for accuracy. May involve reconciliation, support of accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Gathers and processes budget details to provide the basis for interim and year-end financial statements and reports; and additional projects as needed.
- Makes recommendations and assists in the implementation of initiatives to enhance/streamline processes and better utilize technology.
- Prepares and maintains organized procedures and documents process improvement steps.
- Shares process improvement techniques with other Finance staff and maintains critical connections with other County Staff.
- Performs other duties as required.
