Mechanical Designer (3 Openings)

Location: Central Point, OR (On-site)

Job Type: 12+ Month Contract (with expected extensions)

Compensation: $40.00 - $50.00/hr (W2)

Overview

We are looking for highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Designers to join our client's engineering team. In this role, you will support the design and development of mechanical systems, structures, and components for both new and existing aircraft platforms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with SolidWorks and a strong background in mechanical design within a manufacturing, aerospace, or automotive environment.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Design, model, and document mechanical systems, components, and assemblies using SolidWorks and other CAD tools.
  • Prepare detailed 2D and 3D drawings, layout studies, and technical documentation per engineering and FAA standards.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, structural, and systems engineers to revise and optimize designs for performance, manufacturability, and compliance.
  • Conduct tolerance stack-ups and support bill of materials (BOM) generation.
  • Participate in product lifecycle activities including prototyping, design reviews, change management, and production support.
  • Assist in installation, fit checks, and shop floor testing as needed.
  • Ensure all work complies with AS9100, FAA, and internal documentation standards.

What You Must Have

  • SolidWorks proficiency is required (candidates without hands-on SolidWorks experience will not be considered).
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 3–5+ years of experience in mechanical design within aerospace, defense, or industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of design for manufacturing (DFM), GD&T, and engineering documentation practices.
  • Experience working with mechanical assemblies, aircraft structures, and installations is preferred.
  • Familiarity with FAA design standards and aerospace documentation is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a collaborative team.
