Summary

The HR Business Partner will serve as the primary HR contact for the New York City sites, partnering with leadership to support day-to-day HR operations and implement strategic HR initiatives that align with business objectives. This role is responsible for driving employee engagement, talent management, performance optimization, and fostering a positive work environment while ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies.

In this position, you'll have the opportunity to:

HR Strategy and Alignment:

  • Collaborate with plant, warehouse, and other functional leadership to develop and execute HR strategies that align with the plant's business goals.
  • Provide HR expertise to the management team to address organizational needs and business challenges.
  • Promote and implement HR programs that improve overall productivity, efficiency, and employee satisfaction within the plant.

Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning:

  • Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and lead the recruitment efforts for hourly and salaried positions.
  • Ensure effective onboarding and integration of new employees, aligning with site culture and operational needs.
  • Develop workforce plans to ensure the plant and warehouse has the right talent at all levels to meet production and warehouse goals and operational requirements.

Employee Relations and Engagement:

  • Act as a trusted advisor for both management and employees on employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievances.
  • Work proactively to ensure a positive work environment that fosters high employee morale and engagement.
  • Provide coaching to plant and warehouse leadership to address performance issues and promote effective communication between all levels of the workforce.

Performance Management and Development:

  • Support the performance management process, ensuring that employees have clear expectations and feedback mechanisms.
  • Partner with leadership to identify skill gaps and promote employee development through training programs, career development, and mentorship.
  • Lead initiatives to improve employee productivity and performance through recognition programs and targeted development efforts.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Ensure that compensation programs at the plant and warehouse are competitive, aligned with company strategy, and compliant.
  • Provide guidance to plant and warehouse management on compensation-related matters, including wage adjustments, promotions, and incentive programs.
  • Educate employees on the benefits offerings and ensure proper administration and utilization of benefits programs.

HR Metrics and Reporting:

  • Utilize HR metrics to identify trends related to turnover, absenteeism, and employee performance within the site(s).
  • Provide regular reports to the leadership team, offering insights into HR-related metrics and areas for improvement.
  • Analyze data to drive HR decisions and influence continuous improvement efforts.

Change Management:

  • Support change management initiatives related to plant and warehouse operations, restructuring, or process improvements.
  • Facilitate communication and ensure employee buy-in during changes to plant processes or organizational structure.

What you need to succeed in this position:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (required).
  • HR certifications such as PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of HR experience, with at least 2 years in a plant or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in employee relations, talent acquisition, and performance management.
  • Knowledge of plant operations and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and partner with plant leadership.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR principles, labor laws, and employee relations practices.
  • Ability to manage sensitive issues with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to understand and translate business needs into HR strategies and solutions.
  • Strong experience to understand and navigate HR software and systems.
  • Dynamic manufacturing environment with exposure to plant floor and office settings.
  • Occasional exposure to noise, machinery, and industrial equipment in the plant.
  • Flexibility to work alternate or extended hours based on plant and warehouse needs.
