Job Description
Become a part of a dedicated group of infectious disease professionals, consisting of three ID physicians and one nurse practitioner, committed to delivering comprehensive infectious disease care to the community in South Central Kentucky. Our integrated healthcare system encompasses the main hospital in Bowling Green, along with its attached Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) facility and five additional rural locations.
We are a well-established infectious disease practice affiliated with a prominent healthcare organization. Our services include:
- Inpatient consultation for The Medical Center at Bowling Green and Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital.
- Telehealth services for our satellite rural facilities.
- Outpatient care through our infectious diseases and travel medicine clinic, conveniently located within walking distance of the main hospital.
We actively support the UK resident graduate medical education program for internal medicine and other specialties, as well as WKU medical students. Our involvement extends to various committees, including:
- Antibiotic Stewardship Program
- Infection Prevention and Control Program
- Sepsis Committee

Position Highlights- Specialty: 100% Infectious Disease
- Schedule: Rotating weekly schedule:
- Week 1: On-call for 7 days, covering inpatient services (pager duty after hours).
- Week 2: Clinic duties for 3 days (recovering for 2 days after the weekend).
- Week 3: 5-day bridge covering inpatient services with NP support and morning clinic on 2 days (inpatient telehealth for satellite hospitals).
- Week 4: 5-day bridge covering clinic and outpatient telehealth for satellite hospitals.
- Call Schedule: 1:4 weekly rotating on-call schedule; on-call provider carries a pager after hours.

- Facilities: Bowling Green Medical Center and Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital, along with Albany, Caverna, Franklin, Russellville, and Scottsville Medical Centers.
- Average Daily Hospital Census: 35; Average Weekly Clinic Appointments: 15
- Inpatient to Outpatient Ratio: 60% inpatient, 40% outpatient
- APP Support: Experienced Nurse Practitioner assists the ID service

The Medical Center at Bowling Green serves as the primary clinical teaching site for over 70 graduate medical education trainees enrolled in seven ACGME-accredited programs. Additionally, the UK College of Medicine has established a four-year regional campus in Bowling Green in collaboration with our organization and Western Kentucky University.
