Key Responsibilities- Provide expert care in emergency surgery, surgical critical care, and trauma patient management.
- Serve as the Surgical Critical Care Residency Program Director and Medical Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit.
- Report directly to the Chief of Trauma and the Chair of the Department of Surgery.
- Engage in teaching and research in health services, translational science, or basic science.
- Board certified or board eligible in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care by the American Board of Surgery.
- Possess an M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical or osteopathic institution.
- Completion of a General Surgery residency and a Surgical Critical Care fellowship is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in emergency surgery and trauma management.
Our organization operates as a not-for-profit faculty practice plan, owned and managed by physicians. We encompass over 400 providers across all major medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties. Our physicians hold faculty positions and are involved in inter-professional teaching through the Creighton University Arizona Health Education Alliance, which includes a fully accredited ACGME General Surgery Residency. Notably, we host the only ACGME accredited Surgical Critical Care residency in Phoenix and are among 13 hospitals nationwide accredited by the American College of Surgeons for Adult & Pediatric Trauma and Burns.
