Job Description Overview An HR and Communications Director combines the strategic leadership of human resources with the messaging and engagement expertise of communications. This role is responsible for shaping organizational culture, driving talent strategy, and ensuring clear, consistent communication across the companies. Role Purpose The HR and Communications Director serves as a strategic business partner between leadership and employees. They develop and execute HR strategies aligned with business goals, while also creating and delivering communication plans that promote engagement, transparency, and alignment with company values. Key Responsibilities Human Resources Leadership
Develop and implement strategic HR initiatives aligned with business objectives
Lead talent acquisition, retention, and development programs
Oversee employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary processes
Design and manage compensation, benefits, and incentive programs
Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations
Manage HR budget and optimize resources
Lead organizational change management and culture transformation
Partner with leadership on workforce planning and succession management
Oversee HRIS implementation and HR technology optimization
Communications Leadership
Develop comprehensive communication strategies for HR programs, policies, and initiatives
Create and manage content for newsletters, emails, intranet posts, presentations, and other channels
Design and implement employee engagement campaigns
Coordinate communication efforts during organizational change or transition
Track and analyze communication effectiveness and employee feedback
Represent the organization in external communications as needed
Reporting Structure Reports directly to the President of External Manufacturing Skills and Qualifications
Leadership & Strategy: Ability to align HR strategy with business goals
Collaborate with executive leadership to align HR and communications strategies with organizational priorities
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing HR and communications team
Talent Management: Expertise in recruitment, retention, and development
Compliance: Knowledge of employment laws and regulations for each operating state
Communication & Storytelling: Strong written and verbal communication skills
Change Management: Experience leading organizational change
Analytical Skills: Ability to measure and improve communication effectiveness
Ability to design and monitor metrics to measure the effectiveness and impact of HR programs and communications initiatives
Experience with HR software systems, digital communications platforms, and analytical tools
Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR, communications, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP) are common.
Experience: 10+ yearsof progressive experience in HR and/or corporate communications, including senior leadership roles
Competencies: Strategic thinker with exceptional problem solving abilities
High emotional intelligence and strong relationship-building skills
Adept at balancing multiple initiatives and leading through ambiguity
Demonstrated commitment to fostering inclusive, equitable, and engaged work environments
