Job Overview:

The Paramedic will deliver Advanced Life Support (ALS) services to patients.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • Valid Driver's License and compliance with current vehicle insurance requirements
  • New Jersey Paramedic Certification or National Registry Paramedic Certification (eligible for reciprocity)
  • American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider (CPR)
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support
  • Hazmat Awareness Certification
  • Completion of ICS 100, 200, and NIMS 700, 800
  • Completion of Weapons of Mass Destruction or CBRNE Awareness training

Preferred:

  • PHTLS/ITLS certification
  • Associate Degree
Certifications and Licenses Required:
  • New Jersey Paramedic Certification or National Registry Paramedic Certification (eligible for reciprocity)

Scheduling Requirements:
  • Per Diem: Employees must provide availability for 10 shifts and work 6 shifts over 3 months. Per Diem staff are required to work 1 summer and 1 winter holiday, along with 2 weekend shifts. All shifts must be within the assigned region. Per Diem employees can choose to work day or night shifts and select their preferred station/unit.
  • Part-Time: Employees are assigned two scheduled shifts per week, totaling 4 shifts over 2 weeks, with at least 2 weekend shifts required in their designated region.
  • Full-Time: Employees are assigned 3 shifts per week, including weekend requirements, in their designated region, following a Rotating Pitman schedule.
Essential Functions:
  • Maintain a professional, dignified, and compassionate demeanor at all times.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Inform the Supervisor of any maintenance, equipment, or supply deficiencies.
  • Immediately notify the Supervisor of any unusual situations.
  • Administer treatment according to established patient care protocols.
  • Operate department vehicles in compliance with NJ Motor Vehicle Laws and organizational driving policies.
  • Complete department-specific continuing education programs in addition to those mandated by the New Jersey Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services.
  • Ensure all patient care documentation adheres to the organization's documentation procedures.
  • Engage professionally with partners, patients, management, colleagues from other EMS agencies, public safety personnel, and other healthcare providers.
  • Perform routine tasks to ensure personal safety and facilitate patient care.
  • This includes completing vehicle inspection forms, submitting maintenance requests, maintaining compliance with hospital Employee Health requirements, and fulfilling annual self-evaluations and engagement surveys promptly.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by management to support organizational functions.
