Salary Range:
$365,000 - $385,000

Chief of the Division of Academic Specialists in General Obstetrics & Gynecology
Our organization is in search of a dynamic, collaborative, and visionary academic leader to take on the role of Chief of the Division of Academic Specialists in General Obstetrics & Gynecology (ASGOG). This position will report directly to the Chair of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology.
Applicants must hold board certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology, actively engage in clinical practice, and exhibit excellence in areas such as clinical care, leadership, mentorship, education, quality improvement, scholarship, and administrative accomplishments. The Chief will oversee one of the largest and most diverse divisions within the Department, managing academic specialist faculty while ensuring the delivery of high-quality clinical care, enhancing educational programs, promoting research, and cultivating a culture of equity, inclusion, and professional excellence.

Division Highlights
The largest division within the Department, comprising academic specialists in general obstetrics and gynecology, family planning specialists, experts in complex benign gynecology/minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, pediatric and adolescent gynecology specialists, and advanced practice clinicians.
A wide-ranging clinical presence across outpatient, inpatient, surgical, and community practice settings.
Leadership in core services including inpatient obstetrics, outpatient obstetrics and gynecology, gynecologic surgery, family planning services, and complex contraception.
Strong collaborations with residency and medical school educational programs.
Active involvement in quality and safety initiatives, multidisciplinary care, and ongoing clinical improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Administration
Act as the academic and clinical leader of the ASGOG Division, responsible for strategic direction, operational management, and faculty development.
Provide visionary leadership with a strong understanding of clinical, business, and marketing strategies, focusing on growth, workforce development, and service-line expansion.
Oversee recruitment, onboarding, mentorship, retention, and performance evaluation of physician and advanced practice clinician faculty.
Encourage a culture of excellence, professionalism, accountability, collaboration, and psychological safety across all clinical sites.
Develop and execute strategic plans that align with the Department's mission, vision, and values.
Continuously monitor, assess, and adapt to national trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to ensure the division remains innovative and competitive.
Collaborate with the Chair, Vice Chair of Clinical Services, and Chief Administrative Officer to ensure the division's financial health through effective resource allocation and fiscal management.
Clinical Oversight
Ensure and support high-quality clinical care across outpatient practices, inpatient units, operating rooms, and community locations.
Work with obstetric, gynecologic, surgical, family planning, and inpatient obstetric leaders to enhance patient flow, access, and clinical performance.
Support the development and expansion of clinical operations and outreach programs in alignment with departmental objectives.
Where applicable, oversee or collaborate with specialty sections such as Pediatric & Adolescent Gynecology, Complex Family Planning, and Complex Benign Gynecology/Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, along with other subspecialty divisions.
Education & Mentorship
Guide and support faculty in educational leadership roles, including residency and clerkship directors, continuity clinic directors, and core teaching faculty.
Foster an outstanding teaching environment for medical students, residents, and fellows, exemplifying best practices in learner supervision, bedside teaching, and skill development.
Encourage and assess faculty development in academic promotion, teaching excellence, leadership, and professional growth, in collaboration with the Vice Chair of Academic Affairs.
Support the integration of innovative educational strategies and curricula.
Quality, Safety, and Equity
Lead or support divisional involvement in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives across OB-GYN.
Emphasize equitable care delivery, excellent outcomes, and the reduction of disparities in all clinical settings.
Collaborate with departmental operations and quality leadership to enhance outcomes in obstetric and gynecologic services.
Promote strong multidisciplinary partnerships across inpatient and outpatient care environments.
Scholarship & Research
Encourage and mentor faculty participation in research, quality scholarship, educational innovation, and dissemination of scholarly work.
Promote scholarly productivity and engagement with national organizations.
Assist faculty in seeking internal and external funding, research collaboration, and structured scholarly development.
Institutional & External Partnerships
Enhance relationships across various health and educational institutions, community practices, and regional partners.
Provide strategic leadership for the growth and expansion of clinical operations and outreach programs throughout Central Massachusetts.
Represent the division in institutional committees and national organizations.
Act as an ambassador for the division and department in both state and national contexts.
Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology Highlights
A comprehensive academic department featuring divisions of academic specialists, maternal-fetal medicine, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology, reproductive endocrinology & infertility, along with fellowships in MFM and Urogynecology.
A robust OB-GYN residency program (6 per year) and a strong medical school teaching environment.
