Our client is seeking an experienced Land Survey Party Chief to lead field survey operations and supports office production for a variety of land development and construction projects. This role requires strong technical proficiency with Leica robotic total stations, Leica GPS equipment, and Leica data-collection software, along with the ability to produce accurate field-to-finish deliverables. Work includes both independent field assignments and collaboration with a small survey crew.
This is a year-round, outdoor position requiring physical capability, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct deed research and prepare deed plots.
- Lead and supervise a one- or two-person field survey crew.
- Operate Leica robotic total stations, GPS units, and digital/optical levels.
- Prepare accurate field notes, sketches, photos, and daily data downloads.
- Follow established field-to-finish workflows for data collection and file management.
- Support office tasks including CAD mapping using MicroStation and AutoCAD.
- Maintain survey equipment and vehicles in accordance with company standards.
- Communicate with clients and project managers regarding field progress and site conditions.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions; occasional nights or weekends may be required.
- Perform boundary, property line, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, utility, wetlands, and construction layout surveys.
- Willingness to travel within New York State.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Survey Party Chief running field crews.
- Proficiency with MicroStation and AutoCAD for survey mapping and deed plots.
- Associate degree preferred; equivalent hands-on surveying experience is fully acceptable.
- Ability to work independently, follow established procedures, and manage daily field operations.
- Hands-on experience with Leica robotic total stations, Leica GPS, and Leica data-collector software.
- Strong understanding of boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction layout survey methods.
- Familiarity with New York land records and deed research.
- Experience with utility, wetlands, or site development surveys.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interface with clients in the field.
