Position Overview and Qualifications

Role Overview: This position involves providing leadership that enhances the delivery of professional nursing care, ensuring the comfort and well-being of patients. The nursing process—comprising assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—will be utilized to provide, delegate, supervise, and document patient care and education for both patients and their families. You will also implement medically prescribed interventions.

Qualifications Required:
  • Essential Education: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required, or enrollment in a BSN or advanced degree program with a commitment to obtain a BSN within five years of starting in the RN role. Grandfathering is accepted between departments and entities. Extensions may be granted by the facility's Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and reported to the CNO Council. Facilities will track exemptions as needed. RNs with ten or more years of experience are exempt from this requirement.
  • Preferred Education: A Master's degree in Nursing is desirable.
  • Licensure/Certifications Required: Current licensure as a registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing is mandatory. An Enhanced Nurse License Compact (eNLC) license may be applicable; candidates should verify with the NCBON. Certification in BLS for Healthcare Providers is also required.
  • Preferred Licensure/Certifications: National certification in a relevant specialty area is advantageous.
  • Experience Required: A minimum of one year of nursing experience in a hospital setting is necessary.
