Plumbing and Mechanical Foreman
Tyler Service Solutions is seeking an experienced Plumbing and Mechanical Foreman to lead field crews on commercial projects across the DC, Maryland, and Virginia market. This role combines hands-on installation expertise with daily crew leadership, project planning, field documentation, and quality control. The Foreman is responsible for safe, code-compliant work delivered on schedule and to specification.

Supervises: Assigned journeymen, mechanics, and apprentices on the project
Employment Type: Full-time, hourly wage
Schedule: Standard field hours with overtime as project demands require; some early starts and occasional weekend work based on schedule
Location: The company is based out of the Ijamsville MD with job sites located across the DC, Maryland, and Virginia metro area.
Compensation: $35 to $48/hr depending on license, certifications, and experience plus use of a company truck that is used for daily transportation to and from job sites. This position is eligible for project participation and profitable completion bonuses.
Key Responsibilities
• Crew Leadership: Provide daily guidance, scheduling, and direction to a team of journeymen, mechanics, and apprentices.
• System Installation: Assemble, install, and repair commercial plumbing and medical-gas systems including pipes, fixtures, boilers, hydronic heating, and drainage, in accordance with applicable codes.
• Project Planning: Read blueprints, prepare material take-offs, create isometric and schematic sketches, and plan construction timelines.
• Safety Enforcement: Maintain a zero-incident job site by enforcing strict PPE guidelines and proactively eliminating hazards.
• Operations and Coordination: Estimate worker hours, coordinate schedules with other trades, and manage the storage of tools and materials.
• Equipment Management: Operate and oversee the safe use of machinery including forklifts, backhoes, man lifts, and power tools.
• Field Documentation: Complete daily field reports, submit crew timecards through the company system, document work progress with photos, and provide field markups for as-builts.
• Quality Assurance: Inspect ongoing and completed work to ensure strict conformance to project specifications.
Desired Qualifications
• Licensing: Valid Journeyman or Masters license in HVAC and or Plumbing in Maryland or will reciprocate with Maryland.
• Experience: 5 to 7 years of proven experience managing a job site and crew in commercial HVAC and plumbing.
• Medical-Gas Certification: ASSE 6010 brazer certification (installer).
• OSHA Certification: OSHA 10 required at hire; OSHA 30 to be completed within 12 weeks of start date, paid for by TSS.
• Leadership Skills: Strong ability to read blueprints for not just the crew being supervised, but for all disciplines on site, plan project phases, and solve problems independently.
• Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, carry ladders, work from heights and on ladders, and maneuver in tight spaces.
• Screening: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, valid SSN or TINs number, and ability to pass required company drug tests.
• Professionalism: Neat appearance, strong communication skills, proficiency in use of modern construction digital document tools (web based tools such as Procor, IPads, electronic time keepers and reporting software) strong customer service skills, and a team-first attitude.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
• Additional Licensing: Reciprocal or active Journeyman or Master Plumber or HVAC license in DC and Virginia.
• Backflow Prevention: Backflow prevention repair and testing certification.
• Advanced Safety: OSHA 30 already held at hire.
• Advanced Safety: Fork lift, confined space
• Refrigeration: Unlimited Reclaim license

Year 2 through 5 accrue at the rate of .0192 per hour worked for sick leave for 40 hours accrued by the end of year, and .0192 per hour worked for vacation totaling 40 hours by the end of year (80 hrs. combined sick and vacation).
