Role Description:

This position is primarily responsible for 3D design of new molds and other products related to the light truck industry. These products are generally constructed of fiberglass and metal. You will be tasked with the challenge of optimizing all of our engineering design processes and should be comfortable in design development, sustaining product design, and cradle to grave lifecycle ownership.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Leads the project design on all new models, including gathering critical design data from original equipment manufacturers
• Leads the development of molds and other fixtures required to meet production
• Lead the development of product drawings and documentation, including working in AutoCAD, Solid Works and Desk Top applications
• Follows and communicates product and mold schedules to the internal stakeholder as well as customer teams
• Improves manufacturing productivity by analyzing and planning work- flow, space requirements, and equipment layout
• Plans and coordinates production engineering processes to produce high quality products
• Works directly with marketing and sales to review opportunities and develop engineering cost analysis based on product scopes
• Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
• Supports manufacturing to achieve safety, productivity and quality targets through process design
• Understands production priorities accordingly to maximize labor efficiency
• Develops design records for tooling and fixtures via CAD applications and stores records accordingly
• Stay current with product specifications, engineering technology and production processes
• Works hands on to identify problems and/or when quality concerns arise and derive resolutions
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering required
• Minimum of 5+ years of related engineering experience
• Experience in manufacturing environments required (fiberglass or similar materials preferred)
• Proficiency in engineering design software, including SolidWorks and AutoCAD
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling preferred
• Experience in fiberglass mold design strongly preferred
• Experience in process improvement initiatives preferred
