Job Description
Our organization is in search of a Regional Medical Director (RMD) to provide support to our veterinary hospitals located in Colorado, specifically in areas such as the southern Denver metro, Castle Rock, Colorado Springs, Eagle, Basalt, Glenwood Springs, and Grand Junction.
This position is ideal for a veterinarian who is passionate about mentoring fellow doctors, enhancing hospital teams, and fostering practice growth while ensuring high standards of medical care.
As the Regional Medical Director, you will act as a clinical ally to our veterinarians and hospitals, assisting local teams while collaborating with a Regional Operations Director to synchronize medical leadership with the success of the hospitals. This role combines mentorship, teamwork, and strategic guidance—ensuring that veterinarians feel supported, hospitals are well-equipped, and patients receive top-notch care.
Your Responsibilities
- Support and Develop Veterinarians: Collaborate with DVMs throughout the region to facilitate their professional development via mentorship, coaching, and planning. Conduct evaluations and enhance their medical, surgical, and communication abilities.
Enhance Hospital Collaboration: Regularly engage with hospital teams to exchange best practices, assist in workflow enhancements, and ensure that veterinarians have the necessary clinical resources to serve their communities effectively. Recruit and Develop Veterinary Talent: Aid in attracting and onboarding exceptional veterinarians to the region. Support the mentorship and integration of new doctors to promote long-term success and engagement. Partner for Hospital Success: Collaborate closely with your Regional Operations Director to assist hospital leaders with scheduling, equipment investments, and aligning medical initiatives with hospital growth. Support Growth in Colorado: Assist hospitals in expanding services, enhancing medical capabilities, and promoting thoughtful regional growth while upholding high-quality medical standards. Build the Future Veterinary Workforce: Support externship and internship initiatives and represent our organization within the veterinary community to help cultivate our future talent pipeline. What Success Looks Like in the First Year
First 90 Days: Establish relationships with veterinarians and hospital teams while gaining insight into the strengths and opportunities of each facility in the region.
3–6 Months: Initiate regular collaboration and mentorship with doctors, provide hospital teams with clinical resources, and assist in recruiting and onboarding veterinarians.
6–12 Months: Enhance collaboration among hospitals, support service expansion where suitable, and help nurture emerging medical leaders within the region.
Why This Role is Unique
In our organization, Regional Medical Directors prioritize supporting hospitals rather than overseeing them from afar.
We believe that exceptional veterinary care occurs when doctors feel trusted, connected, and supported. Our RMDs emphasize:
- Mentorship over management
- Local hospital partnership
- Collaboration across veterinary teams
- Balancing medical quality with sustainable hospital growth
This is a chance to influence the veterinary culture in a region—supporting outstanding hospitals and assisting veterinarians in building long-lasting, rewarding careers.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
- Current state licensure in good standing.
- Experience managing multiple veterinary hospitals is essential.
- Previous ownership of a hospital or experience as a Lead Veterinarian is highly preferred.
- Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to present key information succinctly.
- Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.

As a member of our leadership team, you will benefit from the extensive resources of a larger network, enabling you to concentrate on empowering your teams and advancing medical excellence.
