Job Opportunity: Clinical Track Faculty Position

Our organization is seeking applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenure clinical track faculty role within the Department of Internal Medicine, specifically in the Division of Infectious Diseases. This position is part of a prominent academic health center dedicated to enhancing healthcare quality through exceptional education, advancing biomedical knowledge, and delivering comprehensive patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide inpatient infectious diseases consultation and manage outpatient clinics at affiliated hospitals.
  • Engage in teaching medical students, internal medicine residents, and infectious diseases fellows.
  • Focus primarily on general infectious diseases while also gaining exposure to transplant and surgical infectious diseases.
  • Explore opportunities for clinical or basic research based on qualifications and experience.
  • Foster an environment in patient care units that promotes excellence and innovation in clinical practice.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate programs and standards to ensure positive patient care outcomes.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to clinical managers, attending physicians, research staff, and colleagues.
  • Exemplify professional behavior and leadership, demonstrating problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Delegate authority and accountability to clinical and nursing staff for patient care decisions in line with professional standards and organizational policies.
  • Identify the needs of patients and families, recommending or developing new programs and services as necessary.
  • Collaborate with hospital administration and physicians to identify future opportunities and define departmental service directions.
  • Maintain an ongoing departmental Quality Improvement Plan aligned with the organizational Quality Management Plan.
  • Participate in or lead committees, work groups, and meetings as appropriate.
  • Ensure active interdisciplinary performance improvement programs and address any complaints effectively.
  • Commit to professional growth through seminars, workshops, and current literature to stay updated in the field.
  • Supervise a specialized clinical team of direct care providers and administrative staff.
Qualifications:
  • MD degree.
  • Possession of a Texas Medical License or eligibility for a Texas Faculty Temporary License.
  • Board certification in Internal Medicine and board certification or eligibility in Infectious Diseases, with a minimum of two years of fellowship training in infectious diseases.
  • Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to excellence, discovery, and service, with the potential to excel in their area of expertise.
  • Preferred candidates will exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with leadership potential within the department.
