Position Overview

The Staff Development Coordinator for nursing is responsible for the planning, organization, development, and management of all in-service educational programs, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and organizational standards.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Possession of a nursing diploma (either an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in nursing)
  • Active and valid nursing license in the relevant state, with a requirement to maintain good standing as a Registered Nurse (RN) throughout employment
  • Preferred: At least one year of experience in skilled nursing
  • Preferred: Experience in teaching or education
  • CPR certification required upon hire or to be obtained during orientation, with the necessity to keep it current throughout employment
Job Responsibilities
  • A strong desire and capability to effectively train and educate nursing staff and other relevant associates
  • Possess expert knowledge in the nursing field
  • Ability to make independent decisions when necessary
  • Familiarity with practices, procedures, and the legal framework governing operations in a post-acute care setting
  • Implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all competency areas, including but not limited to patient rights, safety, and sanitation
  • Maintain professional relationships with all associates, vendors, and stakeholders
  • Ensure confidentiality of all proprietary and sensitive information
  • Adhere to organizational policies, including those related to harassment and compliance
  • Exhibit integrity and professionalism by following the organization’s Code of Conduct and completing required compliance training
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, direct, conduct, assess, and coordinate staff training, education, in-service programs, and orientation
  • Maintain accurate records of associate training and in-service participation
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive demeanor towards patients
  • Assist in the safe evacuation of patients when necessary
  • Demonstrate reliable and consistent attendance
  • Utilize reasoning skills and sound judgment in various situations
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate within an interdisciplinary team
  • Engage in physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving intermittently throughout the workday
  • Read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language
