Job Overview and Qualifications

As a Registered Nurse in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), you will be essential in providing immediate care to surgical patients after their procedures. Your duties will encompass managing airway support, vigilantly monitoring neurological and cardiac conditions, and swiftly addressing any complications or adverse effects. You will also administer initial wound care and ensure patient stability throughout the recovery process, collaborating closely with the surgical and anesthesia teams. Availability for on-call duties during specific non-business hours will be discussed during the interview.

  • Access to staffing support from Certified Nurse Assistants, Patient Care Technicians, Charge Nurses, and an internal RN float pool
  • Regular rounding with unit leaders, including charge nurses, to ensure your suggestions for patient care are valued
  • Prior experience in PACU is required
  • On-call duties are mandatory

Your Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality, patient-focused care while implementing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement strategies
  • Act as a vital member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team, collaborating with providers, therapists, and others
  • Utilize the nursing process, critical thinking, scientific judgment, technical skills, and leadership to deliver safe nursing care independently
  • Assess and monitor patient conditions throughout your shift, documenting any changes and the care provided
  • Educate patients and their families or caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, and follow-up care

Qualifications Required:

    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 90 days of starting employment
    • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification must be obtained within 90 days of starting employment
    • Registered Nurse (RN) license
    • Diploma in Nursing
  • No travel is required
  • No prior experience is necessary
