Job Overview and Qualifications

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-focused care and coordinating all activities within the unit or department during their assigned shift. Working alongside other management team members, the CNC oversees, assesses, and evaluates nursing care in line with established policies and procedures. They serve as a resource for staff and exemplify a commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, and values, thereby enhancing patient experiences and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitates admission and discharge processes to promote efficient patient flow and high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Engages in the continuous evaluation of the quality of patient care services within the unit, collaborating with other management team members.
  • Works with subject matter experts and fellow managers to foster a collaborative environment that enhances outcomes and service quality.
  • Embraces a patient-first philosophy and participates in service recovery when necessary.
  • Contributes to improving staff engagement by implementing current nursing strategies, including employee rounding and hourly check-ins.
  • Offers insights regarding the recruitment, selection, and training of new staff. Recommends and executes actions related to training, conflict resolution, compliance with personnel policies, performance evaluations, and disciplinary measures to ensure a competitive organization.
  • Assists in staff scheduling and manages labor aspects in accordance with patient care requirements and established productivity standards.
  • Helps maintain proper inventory control and assists in managing supplies and equipment.
Qualifications Needed
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification or BCLS Instructor certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment
