Crossbore Tech/Utility Locator – Lead

Location: Canonsburg, PA

Compensation: $22–$28 per hour (based on experience)

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 5:00pm

Travel: Up to 80% as required by project location

Position Overview

We are seeking a Crossbore Tech/Utility Locator – Lead to join our field operations team in Canonsburg, PA. This is a hands-on, leadership-focused role responsible for ensuring accurate detection of cross bored wastewater lines and supporting safe, efficient on-site operations. This role is ideal for someone with leadership experience, a strong work ethic, and the ability to manage field conditions and support team training.

Key Responsibilities
  • Detect cross bored sewer lines and collect data using ESRI GPS field software.
  • Assist in establishing safe work zones, including proper placement of cones, signage, and barriers.
  • Prepare and maintain CCTV robotic equipment under operator guidance.
  • Dispatch tractor units securely into pipes using cranes or manual rigging tools.
  • Mark utility locations using paint and field identification protocols.
  • Lead by example and help train crew members in safety, equipment use, and field processes.
  • Maintain site safety and ensure compliance with all company and industry standards.
Qualifications
  • Proven leadership or training experience in field-based utility or construction environments.
  • Valid Driver's License with clean driving record.
  • Able to pass a comprehensive background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOT Medical Certification and Confined Space Training Certification.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces, on rugged terrain, and in various weather conditions.
  • Physically capable of lifting/carrying up to 75 lbs and walking long distances outdoors.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 80% of the time, including nights and weekends as needed.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a strong sense of accountability.
  • Basic proficiency with GPS and field reporting tools.
  • Ability to operate or assist with ATV equipment in remote or off-road environments.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
