Position Overview:

We are seeking a Mechanical Designer to support new product development initiatives focused on

fiber optic connectivity solutions used in data center environments. The successful candidate will be

responsible for developing detailed component and assembly designs, creating manufacturing

documentation, supporting prototype development, and collaborating with cross-functional

engineering teams throughout the product development life cycle. This position requires on-site

work and offers an opportunity to contribute to innovative product designs in a fast-paced

manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Create 3D models and detailed component and assembly designs using parametric CAD software.
  • Develop innovative design concepts and technical solutions for fiber optic products and assemblies.
  • Generate engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and supporting documentation in accordance with GD and company standards.
  • Manage CAD files, revisions, and design documentation within ERP/PDM systems.
  • Coordinate prototype builds and support validation activities for new product development projects.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers to ensure product performance, functionality, and reliability requirements are achieved.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineers to optimize designs for manufacturability, assembly efficiency, and cost competitiveness through DFM/DFA principles.
  • Develop knowledge of fiber optic products, installation methods, industry standards, and testing requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality, documentation, and manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain awareness of quality management systems, design standards, and manufacturing best practices.


Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency with parametric CAD modeling software such as Creo, SolidWorks, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD), and tolerance standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating within cross-functional teams.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Mechanical Design, Industrial Design, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Experience using Creo CAD software or willingness to learn Creo in a professional environment.
  • Knowledge of prototyping techniques and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and Bill of Material (BOM) structures.
  • Experience with sheet metal, plastics design, and associated manufacturing methods.
  • Exposure to product development processes within a manufacturing environment.
