Human Resources Manager

Location: Sun Valley, CA (On-site)

Our client, a well-established Southern California manufacturer, is seeking an experienced and hands-on Human Resources Manager to lead all day-to-day HR operations. This is a highly visible individual contributor role that partners closely with executive leadership while supporting a growing workforce of approximately 300-500 employees across multiple Southern California locations.

This opportunity is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys being deeply involved in every aspect of Human Resources—from recruiting and employee relations to compliance, benefits, leave administration, and workers' compensation. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, build strong relationships throughout the organization, and serve as a trusted resource to both leadership and employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process, including partnering with hiring managers, sourcing, interviewing, extending offers, onboarding, and supporting workforce planning across multiple departments.

  • Serve as the primary HR resource for employees and leadership by providing guidance on employee relations, performance management, workplace investigations, corrective actions, and conflict resolution.

  • Ensure compliance with all California and federal employment laws while maintaining HR policies, procedures, and employee documentation.

  • Oversee all leave of absence programs, including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, PFL, ADA accommodations, and the interactive process.

  • Administer and manage the company's Workers' Compensation program, including claim reporting, coordination with the third-party administrator (TPA), medical providers, return-to-work efforts, and partnership with the Safety team.

  • Manage employee benefits administration, annual open enrollment, COBRA, and employee benefit communications.

  • Support both union and non-union employees while fostering a positive, compliant, and engaged workplace culture.

  • Maintain employee handbook, HR policies, and employment practices to ensure ongoing compliance with changing labor regulations.

  • Partner with leadership on organizational initiatives, employee development, succession planning, and HR best practices.

  • Contribute to continuous process improvements, including supporting system enhancements and operational efficiencies as the organization continues to grow.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably within manufacturing, construction, industrial, distribution, or similar environments.

  • Demonstrated success managing full-cycle recruiting for both exempt and non-exempt positions.

  • Strong background in employee relations, investigations, performance management, and conflict resolution.

  • Extensive knowledge of California employment laws and HR compliance.

  • Hands-on experience administering leave programs, including FMLA, CFRA, ADA, PDL, and PFL.

  • Experience managing Workers' Compensation claims and partnering with third-party administrators (TPAs).

  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.

  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus but not required.

Why This Opportunity?
