Chief of Radiology/Imaging Leadership Opportunity at VA Portland Health Care System

Our organization in Portland, Oregon is on the lookout for a skilled and proactive leader to take on the role of Chief of Radiology/Imaging. This position involves close collaboration with the Imaging Administrative Officer and the Chief Technologist to create a cohesive Imaging management team responsible for overseeing all service operations. This leadership group is dedicated to delivering top-notch Radiology services to Veterans, establishing local policies for effective service provision, managing the budget, and supervising staff. Key focus areas include service quality, safety, accessibility, innovation, and efficient care delivery.

Our facility is a 1A complex tertiary care center that caters to 95,000 Veterans throughout northwest and central Oregon. In partnership with a prominent health science university, we host approximately 2,000 health professional learners each year and rank among the top 10 nationwide in research grant support, boasting over 170 investigators, more than $41 million in grant funding, and over 500 active research protocols. We are particularly recognized for our lung cancer screening, kidney, and liver transplant programs.

The Imaging Service offers a wide range of services, including CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, nuclear medicine with PET/SPECT CT, conventional x-rays, special procedures, Interventional Radiology, and Neuroradiology, primarily at our Portland campus. The Vancouver campus in Washington provides general x-ray, MRI, CT, fluoroscopy, and ultrasound services. Our Imaging Service is a national frontrunner in adopting advanced technologies and procedures, such as early implementation of Spectral CT, Digital PET CT, 4D CT Angio, and artificial intelligence.

We are in search of a physician leader with a robust clinical, administrative, and academic background to manage daily operations, sustain clinical activities, and engage in educational and research collaborations with our academic partner. The ideal candidate should exhibit strong coordination skills across a diverse range of programs and excel in interdisciplinary teamwork. A high level of motivation to foster ongoing research initiatives, inter-professional training, and professional development is essential.

Full-time, Monday through Friday.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Possess a current, full, and unrestricted medical or surgical license in the U.S.
• Board Certification in Radiology is required.
