Position Overview

Our organization is currently inviting applications for the role of Staff Physician in the Gastroenterology department. We are looking for a full-time, board-certified physician to become part of our team at the Eastern Oklahoma VA Medical Center Hospital. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic clinical environment and hold dual board certifications in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. We are particularly interested in individuals who are passionate about managing both outpatient and inpatient consultations. This role supports a 60-bed VA hospital located in Tulsa and reports directly to the Chief of Medicine Specialty. Please note that this is a non-supervisory position. Responsibilities
  • Engage in clinical practice with a focus on both outpatient and inpatient care.
  • Participate in teaching opportunities through our partnerships with local medical schools.
  • Conduct endoscopic procedures at both the hospital and outpatient clinic.
  • Collaborate with various medical specialties, including surgery, pathology, and radiology.
Qualifications
  • Must possess an MD or DO degree and hold a current, unrestricted medical license to practice in the U.S.
  • Board certification in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine is preferred; however, board eligibility may be considered.
  • Eligible for academic appointment at local medical colleges.
  • Must meet eligibility requirements for appointment at the VA.
Work Schedule

This is a full-time position, requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. There may be occasions where evening or weekend work is necessary, as this is a 24/7 full-time physician role. Telework options are available on an ad-hoc basis, but this position is not remote.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary range is between $320,000 and $400,000, with the potential for an annual performance bonus of up to $15,000.
  • A sign-on bonus will be provided.

Additionally, this position may qualify for the Physician/Provider Contract Buy Out Program (CBOP), which enables the organization to buy out service contracts in exchange for employment at certain rural or highly rural facilities for a minimum obligated service period of four years.
