Carle Foundation Hospital is excited to add a BE/BC Hematology/Oncology Physician to our practice in Mattoon, Illinois. The Hematology/Oncology Physician will have the opportunity to specialize in their area of interest in Oncology.
The Hematology/Oncology Physician would practice in Mattoon, Illinois with a 4-day work week.Call schedule is negotiable.Leadership opportunity to support the growth of oncology services in Carle's South Central Illinois Region (Mattoon) will be considered for qualified candidates. Training in both Hematology and Oncology are required. The physician will be able to specialize in their area of interest in oncology. Board eligibility in both Hematology and Oncology are required for new graduates.
Candidates with experience and new graduates are very welcome to apply. Mentorship for new graduates will be provided. The Hematology/Oncology Physician would work with nine (9) other Oncologists in the practice. The Carle Cancer Institute's main location is in Urbana, IL with several satellite locations in East Central Illinois. This specific position will be based out of our satellite location in Mattoon. The practice has radiation oncology, surgical oncology, gynecologic oncology and breast surgery at Carle Cancer Institute with colorectal surgery, interventional radiology, urology, neurosurgery, head and neck surgery, and thoracic surgery at Carle Foundation Hospital. The Carle Cancer Institute is a part of Carle Foundation Hospital, and both are located at the same campus in Urbana, allowing all services to be integrated into our Multi-disciplinary Cancer Care Model. EPIC electronic medical record is utilized.
The Hematology/Oncology Physician would enjoya very generous compensation packagein a stable, vertically integrated Carle Health System, while practicing in a multi-disciplinary setting with Weekly Disease Specific Tumor Boards (Upper GI, Lower GI, Breast, Thoracic, etc.), and a strong support from Radiation Oncology and all Surgical Services. Our Breast Cancer Program has both CoC and NAPBC Accreditations with weekly Breast Cancer Tumor Board and Multi-disciplinary Breast Cancer Clinic. In 2018, Carle and the Univ. of Illinois opened their doors to first medical student class at the newCarle Illinois College of Medicine. Academic appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Teaching medical students and Internal Medicine residents is a job expectation for this position.
The Carle Cancer Institute has strong clinical cancer research with a National Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) Grant from theNational Cancer Institute (NCI)and currently > 100 open clinical trials for cancer patients in East Central Illinois. Patient accrual to clinical trials is a job expectation for this position. For candidates with a strong academic background, a research component will be considered. The Carle Cancer Institute is home ofthe Stephens Family Clinical Research Institutewith an existing opportunity to support investigator-initiated studies. In addition, the Carle Cancer Institute has a close collaboration with the Univ. of Illinois Basic Science Cancer Center in Urbana, Illinois.
