Job Description
Job Description

Our organization is in search of a board-certified gynecologic oncologist with a minimum of five years of clinical experience to take the helm of our Gynecologic Oncology Program. The ideal candidate will be a visionary physician with a proven track record in leadership, complemented by formal training in this area.

Position Overview:

  • We are looking for a mid-career physician to spearhead and enhance our Gynecologic Oncology service line.
  • The selected physician will lead a collaborative team of three additional gynecologic oncologists, supported by advanced practice providers, registered nurses, medical assistants, a nurse navigator, and two residents from UMKC's OB/GYN program.
  • This leadership position will oversee patient care across ten hospital and medical campuses, covering both inpatient and outpatient services. Responsibilities include advanced gynecologic and oncologic surgeries—such as minimally invasive and robotic techniques—chemotherapy, radiation therapy, survivorship support, palliative care, and facilitating access to clinical trials and research initiatives.
  • The successful candidate will benefit from our organization’s commitment to the growth and success of the Gynecologic Oncology program.
  • Our Cancer Institute is accredited by the Commission on Cancer and is recognized for its dedication to delivering comprehensive, high-quality oncology care.
  • As the primary teaching hospital for the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) Medical School, there is an opportunity for an academic appointment through UMKC, depending on the candidate's level of experience.
  • We offer a highly competitive employment package that includes a guaranteed salary along with excellent benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and malpractice insurance, a tax-deferred retirement plan with employer matching, paid time off, and an annual CME allowance.

About Our Organization:
We serve as part of a larger health system, one of the largest nonprofit healthcare organizations in the United States. Through our ten hospitals and various health service organizations, we provide top-tier, compassionate healthcare across urban, suburban, and rural communities in 65 specialty services throughout 67 counties in Missouri and Kansas. Our facility is nationally recognized for excellence in healthcare and is committed to advancing medical research and education.

About Our Cancer Institute:
Our Cancer Institute, a division of our hospital, offers comprehensive screening, multidisciplinary care, personalized treatment options, and survivorship support for every patient. Our team includes medical oncologists, hematologists, surgical oncologists, gynecologic oncologists, and radiation oncologists, each specializing in various cancer types, including breast, lung, gastrointestinal, liver, brain, gynecologic, hematologic malignancies, melanoma, and urologic cancers.

We lead in innovation by providing the region's only precision oncology program for advanced cancers, staffed by clinical oncologists skilled in genomic sequencing and computational biology. Our facility was the first in the U.S. dedicated solely to the comprehensive care of Stage 4 breast cancer and pioneered the introduction of 3D mammography in the region, boasting the largest network of such centers. Our robust research program includes GOG, industry, and investigator-initiated clinical trials.

Patients at our Cancer Institute benefit from multidisciplinary clinics, allowing them to meet with a team of specialists in a single comprehensive appointment. Our supportive oncology and rehabilitative services program is designed to help patients navigate the physical and emotional challenges that often accompany diagnosis and treatment.
