Position ProfileThe Technical Director role contributes to the growth of the Electronic Systems group through the issuance and support of technical proposals, Marotta capability presentations, and technical discussions. They have extensive expertise in products and technologies in the Electronic Systems segments and provide technical support to the Business Development team. The role identifies and pursues new customers and platforms for these products and technologies through proposal and presentation support.
They are responsible for the technical support of the proposal Bid Manager and for working with engineering as the voice of the customer during early opportunity development and discussions, with the purpose of attaining an RFI and/or RFP.
Minimum Required Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering
- 5‑7 years’ relevant work experience in high‑performance Electronic Systems in the Aerospace and Military industries; subject matter expert in related products and technologies
- Familiarity with government contractual procurement procedures, standards, and quality requirements
- Exemplary verbal and written communication skills for interactions with all levels of personnel internally and with vendors, suppliers, customers, and prospects
- Highly computer literate, with Microsoft Office and PC expertise, and experience with applicable systems, programs, and equipment
- Expert knowledge of the Marotta product portfolio and Tactical Systems engineering capabilities
- Experience in best practices for the design, development, fabrication, testing, and transition to production of Electronic Systems
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Review and assess compliance with customer specifications and sub‑specifications
- Coordinate with engineering on system‑level architecture and technical approach
- Review the Marotta product portfolio for potential design re‑use
- Lead and construct the technical proposal response, including:
- Review of supplied customer bid instructions, if applicable
- Issuance of the proposal outline and base proposal for leverage
- Assignment of proposal section writing responsibilities and support for technical write‑up
- Completion of the technical response for customer submission
- Initial business development customer discussions and presentation formulation for new opportunities
- Update and maintain the Tactical CAS capabilities presentation
- Support technical capabilities discussions with the customer
- Coordinate creation of a preliminary bill of materials in the business system and verify its accuracy
- May entail roles and responsibilities of a Project Engineer, including initial system sizing, design engineering proposal support, small engineering activities, and support of the Technical Road Map
- Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping, and company policies and procedures to ensure regulatory and internal system compliance
- Promote and foster a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication at all internal and external levels
- Lead and participate in team meetings, improvement initiatives, and programs to provide constructive recommendations and initiate actions to support company initiatives and goals

- Keep management informed of area activities and support required, and of any significant problems
- Assume responsibility for related duties as assigned
- Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required
- Frequent exposure to conditions typical of a manufacturing/machine shop environment: fluids, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise and vibration
- Work takes place in both a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop; uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, with appropriate eye, hearing, and foot protection as required
- Travel potential up to 25% nationally
- Regularly required to see, talk, and hear
- Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and to use hands for finger, handle, or feel
- Frequently required to sit for long periods, stand, walk, and move about the facility
- May be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 20 pounds
Salary Range: $170,000 – $220,000 per year
Salary Range: $170,000 – $210,000 per hour
