Building Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Building Engineer to oversee the maintenance, repair, and operational efficiency of our facility’s infrastructure. In this dynamic role, you will ensure that all building systems—including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and facilities equipment—are functioning optimally to provide a safe, comfortable, and productive environment. Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC units, and mechanical equipment to ensure optimal operation.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment using schematics, wiring diagrams, and tools such as ohmmeters and hand tools.
• Conduct welding, carpentry, painting, and other handyman tasks to maintain building interior and exterior aesthetics and functionality.
• Manage plumbing system maintenance and repairs, including leak detection, pipe repairs, and fixture replacements.
• Operate programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for automation tasks within building systems.
• Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to track work orders, maintenance schedules, and inventory of parts.
• Supervise or assist with facilities equipment maintenance projects while ensuring safety standards are met.
• Lead or support team efforts in facilities maintenance activities with a focus on customer service excellence.
• Read and interpret schematics for electrical wiring, HVAC systems, plumbing layouts, and mechanical components to facilitate accurate repairs.
• Maintain high standards of safety compliance during all maintenance activities while supervising or mentoring junior staff when applicable.

Requirements

• Proven experience in building maintenance or facilities management within manufacturing or commercial environments.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and electrical testing devices such as ohmmeters.
• Familiarity with HVAC system repair including troubleshooting thermostats, compressors, fans, filters and ductwork.
• Ability to read schematics related to electrical wiring diagrams and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of plumbing system maintenance including pipe repairs and fixture replacements.
• Experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for automation control systems.
• Excellent communication skills in English to coordinate with team members and support customer service initiatives.
• Supervisory experience is preferred for leadership roles within the team.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders or working in confined spaces safely.
• Certification or experience in electrical work or facilities equipment repair is highly desirable.
