Business Development Executive

Our client is a global chemical distribution company seeking a Business Development Executive for its division in North America. This is a commercial role for someone who knows how to purchase, market, negotiate, establish relationships, and generate profitable business in the chemical markets. The ideal candidate will oversee client and supplier connections, pinpoint fresh opportunities, and help grow the organization's reach throughout North America. This is not a passive account management role. It requires business development skills in chemical trading, distributor relationships, pricing strategies, profit margins, supply dynamics, and market trends.

You will be accountable for increasing sales and profitability within an assigned territory in North America. Key responsibilities include: procuring and vending chemicals from the company's product portfolio, expanding new business with clients, distributors, suppliers, and other industry players, enhancing current accounts while seeking out fresh profitable commercial opportunities, cultivating enduring relationships with clients and suppliers, drafting pricing, proposals, presentations, market updates, and commercial correspondence, monitoring market activities, competitor movements, pricing trends, and regional demands, collaborating with sourcing, supply, sales coordination, marketing, and leadership teams, supervising sales volume, gross margin, pipeline activity, and account performance, assisting in supplier/product qualification procedures in accordance with company protocols, resolving client concerns promptly and professionally, representing the company at industry expos, meetings, and networking functions, ensuring all business operations comply with relevant trade laws, regulations, and company guidelines.

The suitable candidate will possess: 5-8+ years of prosperous experience in chemical sales, commodity trading, distribution, or a similar commercial role, 5-8+ years of involvement in the chemical industry, previous experience in selling to or collaborating with chemical distributors is highly valued, a deep grasp of chemicals, market dynamics, pricing strategies, supply chains, and downstream applications, demonstrated capability to develop new business and cultivate profitable accounts, strong negotiation, communication, and presentation aptitude, comfort dealing with both clients and suppliers, proficient analytical abilities and the skill to articulate market data clearly, proficiency with Microsoft Office and common business software, bachelor's degree mandatory; a background in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or an MBA is advantageous.
