ATI is seeking a technically skilled and EXPERIENCED Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. This in-person role focuses on the design, development, and optimization of high-performance drivetrain components for racing and performance automotive applications. While working closely with manufacturing, quality, and assembly teams to bring innovative, race-ready designs to life, your main goal is design and design modifications.
Key Responsibilities:
· Design and develop high-precision drivetrain components for motorsports and performance vehicles
· Lead multiple engineering projects from concept through production in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
· Perform detailed stress analysis, FEA, and tolerance stack-ups to ensure durability and performance under extreme conditions
· Collaborate with machinists and technicians to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability and assembly
· Support testing, validation, and continuous improvement based on real-world performance data
· Maintain detailed documentation of design iterations, calculations, and test results
Required Technical Skills & Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
· 5–10 years of experience in product development, preferably in motorsports or high-performance automotive sectors
· Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and Autodesk Inventor preferred. Strong understanding of GD&T
· Knowledge of:
- Fatigue and stress life prediction for rotating components
- Tolerance analysis and stack-up calculations
- Materials science, including metallurgy, heat treatment, and surface coatings
Familiarity with the manufacturing process:
CNC machining, welding, and precision assembly
Skilled in using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, hardness testers) and CMM
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently or in a small, agile team
