New Business & Conflicts Analyst
A mid‑sized law firm is seeking a New Business & Conflicts Analyst to support its new business intake and conflicts review processes. This role assists with evaluating new matter submissions, identifying potential legal and business conflicts, and ensuring compliance with firm policies and professional standards.
Position Overview: The New Business & Conflicts Analyst will review new matter and lateral hire requests, analyze parties and relationships, prepare summaries for attorney review, and help facilitate conflict resolution. The role also supports ethical screen administration, engagement letter review, and contributes to ongoing improvements in intake workflows and related technology.
Responsibilities:
- Review new business and lateral hire submissions and prepare clear summaries of potential issues.
- Conduct research on clients, parties, affiliated entities, and corporate relationships.
- Assist with analyzing conflict results and coordinating with attorneys to resolve concerns.
- Review engagement letters, disclosures, and waivers for compliance with firm policies.
- Help implement and maintain ethical screens and related documentation.
- Maintain current knowledge of firm policies related to intake, conflicts, and risk management.
- Support enhancements to intake processes, procedures, and technology.
- Document and maintain accurate records related to new business and conflict activity.
- Uphold strict confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support department operations.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in new business intake, conflicts analysis, or risk management within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to interpret complex party relationships.
- Familiarity with conflict‑checking concepts, ethical screens, and professional responsibility considerations.
- Excellent judgment, discretion, and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys, leadership, and administrative teams.
- Proficiency with research tools, databases, and intake/conflict systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
