About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead its professional Development Department and play a pivotal role in the creation and implementation of a long-term development strategy. The CDO will work closely with the Board, the CEO, and the leadership team to build a philanthropic program that engages a broad audience in the organization's mission and ambitious projects. This includes leading the development of relationships to enhance the organization's visibility and support, as well as serving as the top fundraiser and providing strategic counsel on high-stakes decisions. The successful candidate will be a results-oriented leader with a passion for the company's mission, strong executive leadership, and a proven track record in soliciting and closing significant gifts. Key responsibilities for the CDO at the company include strategic leadership of the development function, management of a major gifts program, and oversight of a comprehensive individual giving program. The role also involves campaign management, staff leadership, and cross-departmental collaboration to ensure that fundraising efforts are aligned with the organization's goals. The ideal candidate will be an experienced and charismatic leader, a dynamic development professional, and an inspiring communicator. They should be committed to the values of the organization, including its dedication to integrating accountability and supporting a racially equitable environment. A minimum of 7 years' progressive fundraising experience, direct management of a professional fundraising team, and a working knowledge of philanthropic best practices are essential.
