About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President of Development and External Affairs Strategy and Operations to lead the strategic and operational aspects of the organization's fundraising and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will be responsible for representing the Development and External Affairs department in key internal leadership forums, ensuring that donor and investor insights inform organizational decisions, and aligning fundraising priorities with the company's mission and programmatic work. This role requires a seasoned professional with 12-15+ years of experience in development, external affairs, or a related field, and a proven track record of securing transformational gifts. The VP will lead a team of 8, including 4 direct reports, and will be accountable for the operating infrastructure that enables the company's frontline fundraisers to achieve ambitious revenue goals. Key responsibilities for the Vice President include organizational leadership, strategic alignment, and the establishment of operating rhythms for the Development and External Affairs function. The role demands a leader with exceptional executive presence, the ability to coach and enable staff in donor communications, and a deep understanding of fundraising operating models. The ideal candidate will have experience in training and professional development, as well as a strong background in strategic planning and performance management. They should be adept at evaluating strategic trade-offs, setting and managing KPIs, and be resilient in the face of challenges.
