Job Description
The Business Insurance Specialist is responsible for developing and growing a profitable commercial insurance book of business by building relationships with business owners and delivering customized risk management solutions. This role focuses on prospecting, quoting, presenting, and closing new commercial insurance accounts while serving as a trusted advisor to clients. Business Insurance Specialists are expected to generate new opportunities through networking, referrals, centers of influence, and agency-provided opportunities while maintaining a consultative, relationship-driven sales approach.

Responsibilities
Generate new commercial insurance business through networking, referrals, prospecting, community involvement, and agency-provided opportunities.
Identify, quote, present, and close commercial insurance solutions for businesses of all sizes.
Conduct comprehensive business insurance reviews to identify exposures, coverage gaps, and risk management opportunities.
Build and maintain strong relationships with business owners, lenders, CPAs, attorneys, REALTORS, and other referral partners.
Develop customized insurance programs utilizing multiple insurance carriers and markets.
Maintain accurate documentation and activity within the agency CRM and management systems.
Meet or exceed established new business production, activity, and close rate goals.
Collaborate with Client Service Representatives and Account Managers to provide an exceptional client experience.
Refer opportunities for employee benefits, life insurance, Medicare, personal insurance, and other specialty products to the appropriate agency advisor.
Stay current on carrier appetites, underwriting guidelines, industry trends, and emerging business risks.
Maintain required insurance licenses and complete continuing education requirements.
Represent the agency professionally while building long-term relationships within the business community.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
Active Property & Casualty Insurance License, or the ability to obtain one within the required timeframe.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Experience
Previous commercial insurance, business-to-business sales, or professional sales experience preferred.
Experience developing referral relationships and prospecting for new business is highly desirable.
Existing relationships within the local business community are a plus.
