Accounting Technician I/II

Are you an experienced Accounting Technician with attention to detail looking for an opportunity to grow with a great organization? Would you like to work for an organization that offers top-notch benefits including a pension? Do you have solid customer service skills and enjoy working with the public? The City of South Lake Tahoe is seeking an Accounting Technician I/II to staff the service counter and collect tax and other payments. The Accounting Technician also performs data entry related to tax collection and accounts payable or accounts receivable in addition to preparing monthly, quarterly and year-end reports. The selected candidate may be offered either the Accounting Technician I or Accounting Technician II position based on demonstrated skill strength and experience.

To be hired as an Accounting Technician I, a candidate must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and 1 year of office support experience. Coursework in bookkeeping or accounting is highly desirable.

To be hired as an Accounting Technician II, a candidate must have a High School Diploma and coursework in bookkeeping or accounting with at least 2 years of clerical or accounting experience. An AA degree is highly desirable.

  1. Round 1 Interviews of selected candidates: week of August 17th
  2. Round 2 Interviews of advancing candidates: week of August 24
  3. Pre-employment checks will commence in late August with an anticipated start date of mid to late September.
