Mechanical Lab Technician Louisville, KY | Direct Hire | $21.00-$25.00/hr + Excellent Benefits Launch Your Career with an Innovative Engineering & Manufacturing Company Snelling Staffing is recruiting for a Mechanical Lab Technician to join an established engineering and manufacturing organization in Louisville. This hands-on position supports mechanical process testing, equipment validation, and product development in an industrial laboratory environment. Pay & Schedule Pay:$21.00-$25.00 per hour (based on experience) Schedule:
Monday - Friday
Typical hours: 7:30 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.
Flexibility is required based on customer testing schedules. Occasional extended shifts may begin as early as 6:00 a.m. or extend into the evening with advance notice.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and prepare industrial equipment for mechanical testing and demonstrations.
Assist engineers during testing by operating equipment and collecting performance data.
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems during testing activities.
Calibrate instrumentation and testing equipment.
Perform electrical wiring of motors, PLCs, controllers, and related components.
Complete light fabrication and welding as needed.
Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Maintain laboratory equipment, tools, and inventory.
Safely handle industrial materials while following established safety procedures.
Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
Support additional testing, equipment rentals, and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or a related technical field or equivalent hands-on experience.
Experience working with mechanical equipment, industrial machinery, or process equipment.
Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics.
Basic knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and industrial instrumentation is preferred.
Light welding or fabrication experience is a plus.
Comfortable using Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to safely work around industrial equipment and follow all safety procedures.
Physical Requirements
Frequently stand and walk for extended periods.
Lift up to 75 pounds as needed.
Bend, kneel, climb, crouch, and work in confined or difficult-to-access areas.
Work safely around moving machinery, electrical equipment, noise, and varying temperatures.
Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
