Relocation assistance requires a one-year commitment and must be repaid if employment ends before that commitment is completed.</p><p>Position Summary</p><p>A hospital in Show Low, Arizona, is seeking experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurses to provide comprehensive care throughout labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum, and couplet-care services.</p><p>Because an OB physician and neonatologist are not continuously in-house, this role requires strong assessment skills, fetal-monitoring expertise, and the ability to recognize and respond to obstetric emergencies until the provider arrives. The ideal candidate is confident caring for high-risk patients and can function independently in a smaller community hospital environment.</p><p>Key Responsibilities<br>Assess and monitor patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care.<br>Provide couplet care to postpartum patients and newborns when department census requires it.<br>Interpret fetal-monitoring patterns and initiate appropriate interventions for fetal distress.<br>Recognize and respond to obstetric emergencies until the physician arrives.<br>Care for patients experiencing preeclampsia and other high-risk pregnancy complications.<br>Assist with vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections.<br>Prepare patients, equipment, supplies, and surgical areas for cesarean deliveries.<br>Monitor maternal and fetal conditions and promptly communicate significant changes.<br>Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and established protocols.<br>Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families.<br>Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, scrub technicians, patient-care technicians, and other clinical staff.<br>Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.<br>Participate in emergency response, patient stabilization, and newborn resuscitation when required.<br>Follow infection-control, medication-safety, fetal-monitoring, and patient-care standards.<br>Float to other hospital departments, typically medical-surgical units, when operationally necessary.</p><p>Requirements<br>Active Registered Nurse license or eligibility for licensure in Arizona.<br>At least three years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience.<br>Cesarean-section experience.<br>Experience caring for high-risk obstetric patients.<br>Strong labor assessment and emergency-response skills.<br>Proficiency in fetal monitoring and interventions for fetal distress.<br>Ability to provide Labor and Delivery, postpartum, newborn, and couplet care.<br>Current Basic Life Support certification.<br>Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification.<br>Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification.<br>Current intermediate or advanced fetal-monitoring certification.<br>Availability for one on-call shift during each four-week schedule.<br>Ability to work independently while awaiting the arrival of an OB provider.</p><p>Preferred Qualifications<br>More than three years of recent Labor and Delivery experience.<br>Experience working in a facility without continuous in-house OB physician coverage.<br>Strong clinical background in obstetric emergencies.<br>Experience caring for patients with preeclampsia and other complex maternal conditions.<br>Experience functioning in both Labor and Delivery and couplet-care settings.<br>Experience assisting with newborn stabilization and resuscitation.<br>Flexibility to assist medical-surgical or other nursing departments when needed.</p><p>Department Information<br>Seven Labor and Delivery beds<br>Two obstetric triage beds<br>Ten postpartum beds<br>Approximately one to three births per day<br>Approximately 830 births annually<br>Typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2<br>Respiratory therapist available in-house 24/7<br>Pharmacy available in-house 24/7<br>Support staff include OB scrub technicians, patient-care technicians, and health unit secretaries<br>Nurse manager may assist with direct patient care when needed<br>OB physician and neonatologist are not continuously in-house</p>PandoLogic.
