About the Role

The Company is in search of an Assistant Vice President of Accounting Policy to take on a pivotal role as the technical accounting expert. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading technical accounting research, analysis, and documentation for a range of complex matters, including acquisitions, new business initiatives, and strategic transactions. This role demands a deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and statutory accounting guidance, as well as the ability to evaluate and implement new accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The AVP will also be a key business partner, providing accounting guidance on critical initiatives and ensuring appropriate accounting treatment throughout the transaction lifecycle. Applicants for the AVP, Accounting Policy position at the company should have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, an active CPA designation, and at least 7 years' of progressive accounting experience. A background in technical accounting, particularly within the insurance industry, is essential, with a preference for those who have Big Four public accounting experience or a combination of public accounting and industry experience. The role requires strong technical expertise in U.S. GAAP and statutory accounting principles, as well as excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building strong cross-functional relationships, be a trusted accounting advisor, and have the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
