About the Role

The Company is seeking a VP of Alternative Investments Accounting to lead the strategic direction and governance of GAAP and STAT accounting close, financial reporting, and financial analytics for its alternative investment portfolio. This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity of accounting and reporting outcomes, particularly in the areas of investment funds and mortgage loan portfolios. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting and maintaining the governance framework, working closely with third-party investment accounting service providers, and leading a team to meet performance expectations. Key duties include serving as a subject matter expert, overseeing the monthly accounting close, establishing performance expectations, and providing strategic oversight of the third-party accounting vendor. The VP will also be involved in technical accounting research, challenging key judgments, and collaborating with various teams to support the analysis and communication of investment results. Applicants for the VP of Alternative Investments Accounting position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, with a preference for a Certified Public Accountant. A minimum of 10 years' of experience, including at least 6 years in investment accounting or the insurance industry, is required. The ideal candidate will have expertise in US GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles, particularly as applied to complex alternative investments, and experience with Clearwater Analytics or a similar third-party investment accounting model. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are essential, as is the ability to work with senior stakeholders and drive process transformation. The role demands a self-starter with a collaborative approach, a focus on stakeholder satisfaction, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is also necessary.
