About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief People Officer (CPO) to serve as a strategic leader in advancing a people-centered culture that is in alignment with the institution's mission, values, and strategic priorities. The CPO will be responsible for fostering a culture of belonging, accountability, engagement, and organizational effectiveness. This role involves providing leadership in the areas of people and culture, justice, equity, and inclusion, and risk and compliance, with a focus on ensuring that all institutional initiatives promote a diverse, inclusive, and equitable work environment. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving the company's equity and inclusion goals and will work closely with the Chief Diversity Officer to promote cultural competency and inclusive excellence. Applicants for the CPO position at the company should have a Master's degree in a relevant field and at least 10 years of leadership experience in HR, compliance, risk, and/or equity and inclusion work. The role requires a deep understanding of HR best practices, employment laws, and risk management frameworks, as well as the ability to develop and implement comprehensive culture strategies. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, an effective communicator, and have a proven track record of building positive relationships with diverse stakeholders. Experience in a senior leadership role, particularly in a shared governance environment, and professional certifications in HR, compliance, or risk management are preferred. The CPO will also be responsible for talent management, workplace culture management, and human resource operations, and must be committed to the values of the institution and the mission of fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community.
