Position Summary

Precision Approach is seeking an experienced Airfield Electrical Superintendent to lead field operations on airfield electrical construction projects throughout the Southeastern United States. The Superintendent is responsible for safely managing all aspects of construction from mobilization through project closeout while maintaining the highest standards of quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.

This position requires a hands-on leader who can effectively supervise field personnel, coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, communicate with project stakeholders, and ensure compliance with FAA standards, contract requirements, and company policies. Successful candidates must possess strong leadership skills, extensive electrical construction experience, and a commitment to delivering exceptional results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Project Leadership

· Direct and supervise all field operations for assigned airfield electrical construction projects.

· Plan daily and weekly work activities to maintain project schedules and maximize productivity.

· Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and deliveries.

· Review plans, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and contract documents prior to construction.

· Conduct daily job site meetings and communicate project expectations to field crews.

· Identify and resolve field issues before they impact schedule, quality, or cost.

· Maintain accurate daily reports, production logs, equipment records, and project documentation.

Airfield Electrical Construction

Supervise the installation of:

· Airfield lighting and signage

· Navigational aids

· Airfield lighting vault equipment

· Underground conduit systems and duct banks

· Handholes, pull boxes, grounding systems, and cable distribution.

Ensure all work complies with:

· FAA Advisory Circulars

· National Electrical Code (NEC)

· OSHA regulations

· Project specifications

· Airport operational requirements

· Company quality standards

Safety Leadership

· Promote and enforce Precision Approach’s commitment to safety.

· Conduct daily Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and safety meetings.

· Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, airport security requirements, and company safety policies.

· Immediately address unsafe conditions and unsafe work practices.

· Investigate incidents and complete required documentation.

Quality Control

· Verify installations meet contract documents and FAA requirements.

· Coordinate inspections with owners, engineers, airport representatives, and regulatory agencies.

· Oversee testing and commissioning activities.

· Complete punch list items promptly.

· Maintain accurate redline drawings and as-built documentation.

Leadership & Team Development

· Supervise electricians, apprentices, laborers, and foremen.

· Train and mentor employees while promoting teamwork and accountability.

· Foster a respectful, professional work environment built on integrity, communication, and mutual respect.

· Evaluate employee performance and recommend training opportunities.

Customer Relations

· Represent Precision Approach professionally with owners, engineers, airport authorities, inspectors, and subcontractors.

· Attend progress meetings and provide project updates.

· Develop and maintain positive working relationships that support repeat business opportunities.

Qualifications

Required

· High school diploma or GED.

· Minimum 5 years of commercial or electrical construction experience.

· Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience.

· Demonstrated experience in underground utility experience.

· Demonstrated experience leading multiple crews.

· Strong understanding of construction scheduling and project coordination.

· Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and electrical drawings.

· Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred

· Airfield lighting or airport electrical construction experience.

· Journeyman Electrician license (where applicable).

· Equipment operating experience.

Physical Requirements

· Lift and carry up to seventy-five (75) pounds.

· Work outdoors in all weather conditions.

· Stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and work in trenches and confined spaces.

· Safely work around heavy equipment, electrical systems, and active airport environments.

· Work extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as required by project schedules and airport operations.

Travel Requirements

Precision Approach performs work at airports throughout the southeastern United States and other regions as project opportunities arise. This position requires a strong commitment to travel.

· Travel is expected to average 90%–100% of the work year.

· Overnight travel and extended assignments away from home are a normal part of the position.

· Project assignments may range from several weeks to several months depending on project size and schedule.

· Flexibility to workday shifts, night work, weekends, holidays, and runway closure windows is essential.

· Employees must be able to travel on short notice when project schedules require.
